Baltimore-based public relations firm expands to meet growing needs of clients

 

Haley Chitty HeadshotBaltimore, Maryland, June 2, 2021 — Atkinson Strategic Communications, a Baltimore-based public relations firm, hired Haley Chitty as the new Communications Associate, where he will help a growing number of clients effectively tell their stories to diverse audiences through engaging content.

“We are excited to welcome Haley to our growing team,” said Atkinson Strategic Communications President and CEO Bill Atkinson who started the firm in 2020 after 15 years in the public relations business and 21 years as a newspaper reporter in Baltimore. “Haley’s unique and extensive communications experience will help us meet the evolving needs of current and future clients. He is having an immediate, positive impact helping clients increase and strengthen their voice and reputation.”

Chitty brings more than 15 years of public/media relations, marketing and communications experience to Atkinson. Over his career he has built and run communications departments at nonprofit trade associations in Washington, DC. At the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) and the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) he led the redevelopment of websites and launched their social media presence, helping the associations engage and persuade diverse audiences.

Throughout his career, he’s effectively leveraged new and traditional media to increase outreach, impact and engagement by identifying and telling compelling stories.

“Baltimore businesses and nonprofits are doing so many interesting things and I’m eager to help them get the exposure they deserve,” Chitty said. “Bill has built an extensive network of contacts and influencers in Baltimore over his nearly four decade career. This helps Atkinson Strategic Communications keep its finger on the pulse of Baltimore business and get clients in the spotlight.”

Chitty earned a News/Editorial Bachelor’s Degree in 2004 from the University of Colorado School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He moved to Baltimore from Washington, DC with his wife and son in 2015. A Colorado transplant, he enjoys hiking, biking and snowboarding. He has been practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) for more than a decade and currently trains and teaches at Baltimore Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
